Here is a selection of hotels in Thessaloniki that have provided special prices for the 16th IWGP conference. These are only a few among a large number of hotels available in Thessaloniki and you may explore yourselves alternative possibilities for accommodation. You can find a laconic description of my impression of each hotel but you can find out more by visiting each hotel’s webpage as well as various sites with hotel critiques. Prices are tax inclusive. Please contact the hotel for any further information you may need in relation to payment and payment deadlines.

Hotel Olympia

Walking distance to the venue (approximately 15 minutes), modern look, nice location. Price range per night including breakfast: single: 45 euros, double: 55 euros. 70 rooms for use as either single or double are available to conference participants. To secure these prices reservations need to be made by the 17th of January 2013 with full payment.

Hotel Le Palace

On Tsimiski Street, in the heart of Thessaloniki and close to the port and Salonica’s night life, it is about 30 minutes walk from the venue and 15 minutes by bus from the University. Price range per night including breakfast: single: 40 euros, double: 50 euros, triple 60 euros. 30 rooms for use as either single or double are available to conference participants.

Egnatia Palace Hotel

Next to Paradisos Hamam and the elegant Aristotelous Square, Egnatia Palace is 15 minutes walk from the venue and 5 minutes by bus. The rooms are modern and spacious. For those very sensitive to noise it may be advisable to ask for rooms not facing Egnatia street. Price range per night including breakfast: single: 60 euros, double: 70 euros.

Hotel ABC

Very close to the venue, decent rooms. Price range per night including breakfast: single: 50 euros, double: 64 euros. 50 rooms for use as either single or double are available to conference participants.

The MET Hotel

A very special hotel in Thessaloniki, it is located approximately 30 minutes by bus from the venue. A bus service for hotel residents is available and a special service will be organised for conference participants during the conference. Price range per night including breakfast: single: 90 euros, double: 100 euros. Free access to the pool, the hamam and the gym will be made available to conference participants.

UNIVERSITY ACCOMMODATION

A limited number of rooms is available at the Aristotle University Residence for visiting scholars. Please indicate in the Abstract registration form if this type of accommodation is needed. Priority will be given to participants unable to raise accommodation money from their institutions. A total of 21 people can lodge there at the following prices:
9 singlerooms with shared bathroom: 20 euros per night
3 double with individual WC: 32 euros per night per room
3 double rooms with shared bathroom: 30 euros per night per room

note: students are not eligible for this type of accommodation
